Jackie Venson

Jackie Venson is an Austin-based guitar player and singer-songwriter whose work has varied over the span of her last few albums often revolving around some pop/blues/soul nexus. Her early work was rooted in pop that blends into rock, soul, and jazz in a way that was reminiscent of perhaps the late '80s. Her 2019 album, Joy, was a good example of how she was able to inject her own personal touch to give her songs a modern appeal. In 2021's Love Transcends, blues moved to the forefront of her music, which allowed her guitar playing to take the spotlight and really shine. She captures the Texas blues tradition sonically while also adding a few things of her own, such as her crisp articulation on the guitar as well as her funky touch. She revisited the songs on her first album, Joy (2019), in 2023's Evolution of Joy.
