Ibeyi
Outline
Ibeyi, which means "twins" in Yoruba, is the Paris based twin sisters Lisa-Kaindé and Naomi Diaz who are of Cuban origin, creating music that combines a wide variety of influences. There is a good deal of Afro-Cuban and traditional Yoruba elements in their music, along with some R&B, some pop, and occasional jazz. Pianist Lisa-Kaindé typically handles the lead vocals, and she is the primary songwriter in the duo whereas Naomi takes care of the backing vocals and provides the percussion, frequently working with the cajon. Their songs usually have a comfortable pace, with good build up and vocal layers. Naomi's beats are usually up front, playing a central role. Their arrangements are usually quite spacious and stripped down, which adds more clarity to their sound.

Their father was Cuban percussionist Miguel "Angá" Diaz, who died while his daughters were little.
