Hussy

Hussy (Sophie Nicole Ellison to her friends and family) is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who plays primarily in the alt-rock style with a touch of occasional grunge. Her work embraces the lo-fi sound for the most part, keeping her emphasis on the melodic nature of her songs and her relaxed vocals while making a good use of her clear guitar sounds and an uncomplicated rhythm section. Her songs often have a wistful and somber tone. They tend to hover around the mid-tempo range with a strong '90s flavor in their overall flow. At times, she comes across like a young Liz Phair that happens to be far less cynical or self-conscious, but with similar songwriting process and feel.
