Heave Blood & Die established itself as a doom metal band with an eye towards psychedelic metal up until 2021's Post People, where they somewhat abruptly changed directions and swerved into a mixture of post-rock, post-metal, and krautrock. They have retained their basic dark tone and their songs are still often riff driven, but they no longer have that low register, slower metal grind and the grim and foreboding sensation typically associated with doom metal. Their grooves are looser in general, but their music continues to be intense, with a good amount of ambient noise they use as their foundation. It's a sprawling sound that reflects the political despair in their lyrics as they tackle some big issues. The vast majority of their songs are in English with the vocals mixed in low enough to blend in with the other instruments.
