Grocer

Grocer is a Philadelphia based indie trio whose music probably comes under the heading of a mixture between post-punk and an off-kilter alt-rock in broad strokes, but defies an easy definition in its particulars. They seem to be bouncing around loosely, pulling ideas from different places as they see fit. Part of this dynamic is that the presence of multiple (strong) songwriters in the band. It also seems to be their experimental core, i.e., their eagerness to try different elements across the musical landscape without feeling any allegiance to any given stylistic camp. Their occasionally manic energy and consistently imaginative flow lead to music that is eclectic in its nature, but in a good way, like listening to an art rock mixtape put together by a friend.
