Strawberry Runners

Strawberry Runners are the project led by singer-songwriter Emi Night, whose music is primarily anchored in the indie folk style, frequently crossing over into indie rock and pop as well. Their songs have an upbeat feel and a breezy quality, but also with a layer of melancholy can often be felt in the background. There is a subtlety to the melodies that is reminiscent of Big Thief to some extent, with a similar sense of calmness and intimacy, except Night has a much lighter touch, which adds more of a lift to the music. Their 2023 debut album came quite a few years after their emergence in the indie scene in the mid to late '10, a period of trying times for Night, though without any major stylistic shift in their work before and after that break.
