The Gaslight Anthem

The Gaslight Anthem is a New Brunswick, NJ based band, led by singer-guitarist Brian Fallon, that plays primarily in the heartland rock mold. Back between the late '00s and early '10s when they were first starting out, there was some Social Distortion type punk influence in their music as well, which has receded in recent years and was replaced by a more melody anchored, pop compatible sound. This opened up more room for their affinity towards Bruce Springsteen to roam, paired with perhaps a touch of grunge fire underneath that has undergone some refinement and polish over time. The solo work that Fallon put out during their hiatus in the second half of the '10s provides the missing piece in the band's transition in style. Their 2023 album History Books was the band's first release following their almost a decade long break.
