Fruit Bats

Fruit Bats is the project of singer-songwriter Eric D. Johnson, who has been playing a mixture of indie folk and folk rock with a fluid line up since 2001's Echolocation. The band started in Chicago and relocated a couple of times along the way with stop-overs in Seattle and Portland before they ended up in Los Angeles. Johnson has a natural and warm style as a songwriter and a relaxed approach that creates a lot of space in his songs. They are often mid-tempo with classic melodies that suggest kinship with early '70s care-free soft rock style. His work has a comfortable flow and a cozy feel that is not unlike a warm and fuzzy blanket when you need one. His 2021 release Siamese Dream is a song by song cover of the 1993 Smashing Pumpkins classic.
