Fran

Fran is an indie pop band led by singer, songwriter, and guitar player Maria Jacobson, who plays a mixture of folk oriented ballads and mid-tempo pop pieces. Her quiet songs tend to be sparsely arranged, giving them an intimate, small stage type feel. When she gets into her pop mode, her songs tend to have a distinctive melodic motif that have a vague '60s Laurel Canyon type vibes about them, though mostly in quick glimpses.  She projects a lot of calm in her tunes, which are often well-crafted and well-polished, with nothing out of place. Her smooth, rich, and expressive voice also adds to the warmth of her songs.
