Erny Belle

Erny Belle is Auckland based singer-songwriter Aimee Renata, whose music tends to be on the calm and gentle side, frequently peppered with elements of Polynesian music. A lot of that comes from the use of the steel guitar, and some of it from her melodic choices. Otherwise, she works with relatively stripped down instrumentation that avoids any potential distractions getting in the way. Her breathy vocals add a sense of intimacy to the songs. The music has an overall dreamy and somewhat elegiac quality. It feels intensely personal in just the way it sounds. Her Maori heritage and connection to the land and her people comes through very clearly.
