Die Wilde Jagd
Outline
Die Wilde Jagd is the project of producer, guitarist, vocalist, and composer Sebastian Lee Philipp, whose music is based on elements of electronic music but also manages to project a strong sense of warmth and an organic feel in a way that is reminiscent of classic krautrock bands like Faust and Neu. His music is not dance oriented, but often makes use of prominent beats that demand a bit of a sway. Its ambient component continued to grow, especially starting with Haut (2020), leading to the full-blown drone in Atem (2022). His pieces have also become progressively longer, taking more time to build its atmospherics, leading into sonic narratives that focus on texture more than melody. The tools of his art may decidedly be techno with all the synths and so on, but Philipp extracts a natural flow out of those beats and the instrumentation.
Die Wilde Jagd started as a duo between Philipp and Ralf Beck, before it became a moniker for Philipp alone. The two, however, still work together on the compositions and the recordings for Die Wilde Jagd.
Philipp has also been a member of a Berlin based act Noblesse Oblige with French singer Valerie Renay.
