Common Holly is the moniker used by singer-songwriter Brigitte Nagar, who stays somewhere between indie rock and indie folk, stylistically, and adds small experimental moves where she colors outside the lines a little. She sings in dark and dreamy tones. Her songs tend to be on the calm and quiet side, usually moving along wistfully until she flips the script a little by taking an odd turn, suggesting dissonance every now and then, inserting additional layers, or dropping small instrumental snippets in the middle. Nothing jarring though, as she keeps it smooth almost like a minor narrative shift. There is an overall melancholic feel to her music that is not too dissimilar to the work Kristine Leschper did with Mothers.
