Catholic Action is an indie rock band that walks the line between post-punk, glam, and '00s dancy pop as practiced by bands like Franz Ferdinand. Their sound gives off vibes range from Talking Heads to Devo, and lets harder pieces like the distorted guitar bursts exist side by side with lively and perky hand claps. On the other hand, some of their stylistic choices provide a consistent base for their music: chief among them is the impossible-to-miss glam style melodies along the lines of David Bowie and Marc Bolan, but also the spiky guitars, in fact, the overall spiky sound as a whole, vocals that are tightly lined up with the downbeat, so forth. At the end of the day, the band, led by singer/guitarist Chris McCrory, has the ability to turn out songs that are as catchy as they can be, and to deliver them with sharp focus.
