BIG SEA is a Bologna based Italian trio that brings some punk meets early post-punk influences to their alt-rock sound. They were initially leaning more towards a riff-centric style on their self-titled 2021 EP, with flashes of punk accents that have come closer to the surface in the work they released since then. Vocalist Francesco Bortolini sings with a slightly sandy voice that feels at home alongside his fuzzy guitar attack. Their songs are strong on hooks and the band maintains a balancing act between keeping them catchy without going overboard. There is a generally playful and relatable quality to their approach that makes its presence felt despite an occasionally angsty tone that weaves in and out of their music.
