The Beths

The Beths are an indie pop band from Auckland with plenty of power pop moves to spare, complete with uptempo beats, catchy melodies, rousing chord bursts, and a completely likeable and relatable presence to boot.  They have good songs with good hooks that they deliver in a straightforward manner, nothing complicated. They are led by singer, guitar player Elizabeth Stokes, who is also the main songwriter and the central focus of the band (also see the name of the band). There are good vocal harmonies that add depth, nice guitar work that adds texture, and an overall upbeat energy and enthusiasm, although their sound moved somewhat from post-grunge tones to more emo friendly tones on their second album in 2020.
