Beats y Batería
Outline
Chicago's Beats y Batería is a band that comes with strong multinational flavors, tapping into a couple of distinct and diverse musical traditions across the globe. On one side is Cuban producer Harold Gonzalez who leads the Afro-Cuban and Afrobeat action and an occasional touch of bossa. On the other side is Moldovan jazz singer Ana Everling, who introduces an eastern European component as the band dives into Romanian folklore. Connecting the two poles is drummer Daniel Crane, the batería of the outfit, so to speak, who has a way of expertly providing the beats that tie these strands together. The trio's regular excursions into the world of club music that pulls from disco, jazz, and house music ends up adding more flair on top.
Connecting the world through syncopation.
