Audrey Powne

Audrey Powne is a vocalist, trumpeter, and keyboard player, originally from Melbourne but currently based in London, who combines traditional jazz with a strong R&B and neo soul sound. It is a combination that lends itself to a ballad centric repertoire, which is her main focus as a gifted composer and outstanding vocalist. She reaches back to the classic era of jazz with lush arrangements and romantic overtones that also retain a palpably contemporary spin. Her subtle touch and soulful approach to the piano places her more or less in the same stylistic ballpark as early Herbie Hancock, while her gentle and sublime work on the trumpet also brings to mind Roy Hargrove's bright tones and melodic accents.
