Alexandra Savior
Outline
Alexandra Savior (McDermott) is a singer-songwriter who has presented two distinct faces thus far: Up until her 2025 album Beneath the Lilypad, she worked in the indie rock style that intertwines a layer of light psychedelic pop with reverb-rich retro western tones. On Lilypad, OTOH, she turned to a much softer, quieter sound that was a throwback to the '50s style grand pop with strong orchestral relishes, and an active string section, with almost Lana del Rey type finish. What remained a constant in this switch was the cinematic noir quality of her songs that evokes some classic black and white imagery. Also unchanged is the subtle nature of her songs and her breathy, brooding vocals that often walk the line between melancholic and sultry.
Donna Blue, Jesse Jo Stark, Gemma Ray, Lana del Rey, Arctic Monkeys
She had Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys as her producer and co-songwriter on her first album, Belladonna of Sadness (2017).
