The 502s
Outline
The 502s is an Orlando based band that pretty much embodies a care-free sunshine and beach attitude injected directly into the type of loose indie-rock/indie folk hybrid along the lines of The Lumineers and Mt. Joy. Band leader and singer/guitarist Ed Isola has an infectious personality that sets the tone for their consistently joyful sound, and he sings through what sounds like a heartfelt smile. His banjo pairs well with Joe Capati's saxophone and trumpet, which gives them a fuller sound. They are a tight ensemble as a band, perfectly aligned with the mood and their apparent mission to keep the fun rolling. The songs are invariably upbeat in mood, mostly high tempo, always energetic, and perfectly earnest in tone.
