John Francis Flynn

John Francis Flynn is a guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist who plays primarily Irish folk.  He typically picks traditional songs and gives them a contemporary spin, both in presentation and feel. His arrangements tend to be sparse and minimalist in terms of instrumentation. He sometimes incorporates an electronic layer to his production, as he did more overtly at times on 2023's Look Over the Wall, See the Sky. That is part of the way he has the ability to have these songs from a different era meet us where we are. The music is rich in melancholy and exudes a sense of isolation at times, enhanced by his emotionally captivating delivery and highlighted by the resonance of his weathered voice.
