Wu-Lu is Miles Romans-Hopcraft, a multi-faceted multi-instrumentalist who has been building a distinctive body of work that pulls from a variety of genres and influences. There are elements of electronic, hip-hop, trip-hop, and drum 'n' bass in his music, along with some jazz, rock, and plenty of club music, which he uses in different combinations as he shifts stylistically between songs. He has been exploring rhythms and textures going back to his first album, Ginga (2015), which in retrospect, was relatively mellow in tone. He has expanded his palette considerably since then, opening up to harsher rock sounds and bolder grooves. His music may not be overtly melodic or lyrical in terms of emotional expression, but it is adventurous and highly absorbing.
