Woodes is the singer-songwriter Elle Graham, who creates warm indie pop songs with usually understated melodies and a sense of drama that runs through them. She evokes that sense not by creating big chorus moments but by building subtle tension into her melodies and instrumentation. There is a consistent overall sound to her music that comes through clearly. She has an affinity for strong percussive textures whether it is in the way she uses toms to drives the beats and heighten the song's impact or it is by giving marimbas and other percussion instruments a central role in her arrangements. She sings in a kind of misty, breathy voice and with some mannerisms that that may be reminiscent of Lorde at times.
