Wavves

Wavves are an indie rock band originally from San Diego, California, led by singer-songwriter and guitar player Nathan Williams, whose music lands in a stylistic area where scrappy, pop punk runs into garage rock. As their early surf rock inspired lo-fi sound with heavy distortion gave way to a sharper sound, the band also began to show some emo contours in their melodic flow. That said, their musical guideposts are planted firmly and openly in '90s alt-rock. It is just that they tend to take the angst and the anger down a few notches and keep it more or less relaxed even on the up-tempo numbers. The songs are melodic, with good, pop friendly riffs and clear vocal delivery by Williams.
