Warm Drag

Warm Drag was the Los Angeles based vocals/drums duo Vashti Windish and Paul Quattrone who created a kind of art rock that combines dark western, garage, and a hint of gothic cabaret sounds into a nightmarish art rock built on bits of distortion and noise. Quattrone handled the samples and the production as he constructed this fuzzy, woozy soundscape framed by hazy bass and blurry percussion. There were some '90s industrial and underground vibes to the way these components played out. He certainly made generous use of garage rock elements in ways that are spiritually akin to the way John Dwyer (Oh Sees) does, which is not a coincidence since the two had worked together before. Windish sang in a sultry voice that elevated the sense of drama as she bounced off of the textures created by Quattrone.
