unÁnima

unÁnima is the moniker used by singer-songwriter Juliana Unanue Banuchi, who approaches the traditional music of her native Puerto Rico through a contemporary lens. Her work incorporates electronic layering along with Caribbean and Cuban motifs that introduce additional textures and rhythmic variations. She sings in a smoky voice and with some dramatic flair that adds nuance to her delivery. She works closely with producers Héctor Mayoral (aka Modestti) and Manuel Mendoza Sánchez, who have also been her songwriting partners.
