Tyler Childers is a country artist from Eastern Kentucky whose work combines various traditional Americana genres: country, bluegrass, and folk, and does so with a strong connection to a conventional feel. Music of the Appalachia is a strong factor in his music: he has the voice, the twang, the rhythms, and the sound of the fiddles that gives the listeners a sense of authentic small town folk. On the other hand, he is also an artist that pushes boundaries within the folk world, releasing an album of almost all instrumental bluegrass songs during the pandemic lockdown of 2020, Long Violent History, which included his reflections on the killing of George Floyd. Then he followed that with the triple album, Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven? in 2022, where he played a set of songs in three distinct styles, ranging from traditional folk/gospel to versions that incorporate contemporary, non-folk beats, revealing an experimental side as an artist.
