There was a time in 2018, 2019 that Ty Segall was simply the most prolific artist out there, endlessly releasing album after album, including some side projects. He is still quite active, and maintains his level of productivity without diluting the quality of his output. He works primarily as a garage rock artist: his music is rough, scrappy, free-flowing, loud, and lo-fi, though he does shift into other genres regularly, exploring metal, punk, surf rock, and psychedelic rock. That said, a certain garage esthetic remains his core. There are even a good number of (mildly surprising) folksy acoustic numbers in his catalog. His songs almost always has strong hooks. The sheer volume of his discography may be intimidating for some newcomers, but those who enjoy their music raw and powerful, he offers a large and fairly consistent body of work to dig into. His 2024 album Love Rudiments is more or less his love letter to percussion instruments.
