Troker
Outline
Troker is a fusion jazz band from Guadalajara that combines elements of rock, metal, prog, funk, and hip-hop with jazz, very much in the spirit of '70s fusion bands. They are an ambitious group in many ways, and they have the chops to deliver on their promise (and then some). The band occasionally tips their hat to Mexican musical traditions, but they do so only in passing. Their main focus remains locked in on the traditional fusion idioms. Their music is dominated more or less by grooves, a display of a strong pulse, danceable beats, and strong ensemble work. As we see young jazz bands emerge from various corners of the world, reclaiming the art form for a new era, Troker belongs with some of the other top-notch bands and artists taking part in that revival. They also happen to be quite dynamic and exciting as a live band.
