Tele Novella

Tele Novella is an offbeat indie pop band led by singer-songwriter Natalie Ribbons and her quirky songwriting with strong folk overtones. The music has some Françoise Hardy vibes without actually sounding retro, and this is not just in the vocals.  Ribbons' songwriting hits a similar melodic flow, similar beats, and a similar delivery.  Their earlier songs were referencing the tremolo of the dark western soundtracks, while their more recent album is filled with unmistakable references to renaissance period folk, which to be fair, is a relatively unusual choice and refreshing choice these days. The band was a four-piece band in those earlier recordings, whereas they are mostly a duo in their current line up.
