Tagua Tagua

Tagua Tagua is a São Paulo based band led by singer-songwriter and soundtrack composer Felipe Puperi, who takes his main inspiration from Brazilian music, especially tropicália and some bossa nova, mixes them with rock and funk, and renders them with strong indie type overall feel. There are some psychedelic accents to their music, enough to make their presence felt without overwhelming the whole sound, typically packed into his melodic motifs on the guitar. When that is added to the mix, the band's music begins to give off minor Unknown Mortal Orchestra vibes. Latin based rhythms are there, but the band is relatively restrained in the way they use them. Puperi has solid songwriting chops and a sweet voice that delivers the songs in a relaxed, calm manner.
