The Soundcarriers
Outline
The Soundcarriers are a band that combines late '60s style psychedelic pop with uptempo motorik grooves that seem to be rolling downhill rather than cruising on the autobahn. Their music tends to be highly propulsive and driven quite a bit by the rhythm section between Paul Isherwood's lo-fi flavored thumping bass and Adam Cann's snappy drums. The keyboards and the guitar come in as a hazy, somewhat muted layer on the music, bringing that wonderfully vintage keyboard sound into the mix, plus plenty of reverb on the guitar. Vocalist Leonore Wheatley adds some dream pop colorings to their sound with her soft and misty tones. Their vocal harmonies also have very strong '60s psychedelic vibes. The band was particularly active between 2009 and 2014, and came back from an extended hiatus with 2022's Wilds, which followed the same basic blueprint, as they picked it up where they had left off.

Their music was used quite a bit on AMC's criminally underwatched show Lodge 49.
