Somali Yacht Club

Somali Yacht Club is a three-piece rock band from Lviv, Ukraine that infuses their psychedelic tinged guitar work with their relatively softer take on post-metal. They capture a sense of anxiety and restlessness and play with some fairly dark tones but do not have an aggressive stance. In fact, there is almost a dreamy quality to their music when they begin to drift into a hazy soundscape. Their songs are not short affairs. They take their time to expand thematically and continue to build, which is to say there is a prog component to their music as well. Vocalist Ihor Pryshliak's reverbed voice adds to the somewhat expansive nature of their music. Their 2022 album, The Space turns up the dial on dramatic tension in their sound.
