Say Sue Me, aka 세이수미, is a band based in Busan, South Korea that plays a softer version of shoegaze mixed with dream pop and surf rock. The tone is set by the guitars as they jangle, swirl, or push for a surf feel, all of which converge into a sound that gives their songs a hybrid character. Vocalist Sumi Choi's delivery can be straightforward a lot of times, but when the band turns on the swirly tones, she turns on the dream pop mode by getting floaty and hazy. They also use shoegaze style guitar distortion. As melodic and enjoyable style as their songs may be, and as much as they pour on the upbeat pop, there is also a layer of sadness that permeates their work, which developed on their second album Where We Were Together in 2018 as a response to to the tragic loss of a member around that time.
