Poliça

Poliça (or POLIÇA) is an indie band led by the singer Channy Leanagh and producer Ryan Olson that lies somewhere at the intersection of electronically driven synth-pop and uptempo trip-hop beats. They are neither quite as dance-driven as many synth pop bands, nor as quite laid back, meditative, and brooding as most trip-hop bands. They tend to strike a balance between the two poles with music that is often driven by propulsive drum beats and Leanagh's immersive vocals.  Their earlier work gravitated more towards the melodically driven synth pop, while their later work became edgier, which is where the trip-hop ingredients became a more pronounced feature of their music. Their 2022 album, Madness, created during the pandemic period, on the other hand, has more pronounced experimental electronic tones.
