The Pleasure Majenta

The Pleasure Majenta is a band that taps into the post-punk gothic esthetic and post-rock drone that sounds like a mixture of early Nick Cave and later Swans. They are originally from New Zealand, but operate out of Berlin. Their line-up has changed over the years, with vocalist, guitarist, keyboard player Lawrence Fergus Goodwin remaining at the center of it all. The band has maintained a consistent sound throughout its catalog, shooting for a gloomy feel  built around repetitive riffs moving in a deliberate pace, industrial textures, a bit of noise, and an overall sense of dread administered judiciously. Their earlier work was more entrenched in drone and had a more pronounced experimental tilt as opposed to their later recordings.
