Pile

Pile is a rock band led by singer/guitarist Rick Maguire that resides in the harder edges of indie rock that overlaps a little with post-hardcore. They play in an expressive style, a big sound, and often solemn tones that can get dark. When they crank up the intensity and hit it hard, they also bring out a punk adjacent scream singing style and blistering guitar leads. That said, they also take it down a few notches at times and deliver quieter though tense songs. The band was formed as Maguire's solo project in Boston and grew into a band gradually as it also continued to diversify stylistically. Their 2023 album All Fiction has seen the band expand their palette further in terms of texture, instrumentation (adding synths and a string section), and melodic structures.
