Regent Theater is a venue in downtown Los Angeles that was brought back in 2014 after a period of inaction for about a decade and a half. Prior to that it was known as National Theater, a movie house that had fallen on hard times. Currently, it lies in the middle of similar venues that occupy the space between the Financial District and Skid Row at the heart of the mosaic that is LA, along with the Ace Hotel, Orpheum Theater, and the Smell. It has a good size floor and a large balcony area that has a pretty good bird's eye view of the stage, which is open to the audience in a lot of shows. Other times it may be designated as a VIP area, if the headlining act has gotten big.
It is upstairs on the balcony area unless the that area is deisgnated as VIP, in which case, it is in the pizza joint next door, connected to the theater.
In the corridor between the auditarium and the entrance/
There are three paid surface lots conveniently located across the street from the venue between 4th and 5th Street. If you happen to get Doris Day parking please make sure to read the street signs carefully. It is also very close to the Pershing Square stop on LA metro.
