Pan Amsterdam

Trumpeter Leron Thomas has had quite a career arc thus far that took him from being a prodigy from a Houston high school to the New York City jazz scene, where he discovered he did not quite fit in with the establishment, leading him to develop his own hybrid of genres as Pan Amsterdam. At its core, his music is a cross-over between jazz, hip-hop, and a hard to define electro-cool sound that provides the framing for his vocals as he rides a cadence that slides between rapping and beat poetry. His lyrics are often humorous and filled with pop culture references in a stream-of-consciousness flow.  His trumpet work is exceptional while his body of work is versatile, often shifting between schools of jazz, and his hip-hop has a special affinity towards the old school boom bap.
