Olivia Rodrigo is a singer-songwriter who originally started out as a child actor on the Disney Channel, and then re-emerged as a major pop artist in 2021. Her music has a distinct edge in contemporary pop in the way she likes to lean towards a harder indie rock sound and taps into the '90s alt-rock motifs. She does not seem too concerned about her songs conforming strictly to a given pop template, so they tend to be stylistically fluid, which leads to a good variety in her work. Driven by her openness and the honesty of her lyrics, her ballads feel direct and honest.
