New Translations
Outline
New Translations is a Nashville based band that used to play '80s style synth pop back when they were called Jive Talk. They had a bright sound that exuded a sense of joy. Then shades of gray began to take over and a more muted sound emerged (along with the name change). Their ability to string catchy and well-grounded tunes also took a step back, in favor of more subtle ones. Either way, the core of their music is built on the vintage sound of woozy riffs set against dance beats, and layered synths serving up a healthy dose of reverb. It is confident music that is also accessible, and the band keeps it loose most of the time, and handle the peaks in measured ways without going fully anthemic.
They used to be known as Jive Talk.
