Nané
Outline
Nané was an Austin based band that combined indie rock with soul and some blues and funk. They were led by singer Daniel Sahad, a singer with a slightly raspy voice that sits comfortably in the soul/blues style, who unfortunately, passed away in 2022 at the age of 29. They were a band that appeared to be walking the same path as Black Pumas stylistically, working with the same type of free flowing, soulful rock and were poised to repeat their success as well. Their music bounces between upbeat jubilance and mid-tempo swagger in a way that puts out a lot of '60s vibes. The vibrating electric piano sound, the pedals used on the guitar, occasional falsetto on the vocals, and the percussion add to the legacy of a band whose songs are strong, melodically bold, and swing well.
Junior Black Pumas with more indie rock tendencies.
Keyboardist JaRon Marshall also plays with Black Pumas.
