Namesake
Outline
Namesake is a Brooklyn based four-piece band whose sound works off of the blueprint of early post-punk coming to its own having just diverged from punk in the late '70s (see, for instance, the early recordings of Wire and Gang of Four) This was especially prominent in their earlier incarnation as Honduras, with Tyson Moore on the guitar. The band continues in a very similar vein as Namesake, with the same type of raw energy, though with perhaps keeping it lighter on the punk snarl. They are now also more open to the infectious embrace of a jangly, power pop type sound and the melodic aspirations that come with it. They are a tight combo as a band, with proudly rough edges, and a solid attack.
Bambara, the punky side of Parquet Courts
They used to go by the name Honduras before 2020.
