Mt. Joy
Outline
Mt. Joy is an indie folk band founded by the two guitarists Matt Quinn and Sam Cooper, who are originally from Philadelphia. They work in the mid-tempo, easy rolling, melodically spacious style that may be familiar from bands like Lord Huron and The Lumineers. Their music is generally calm in temperament, and has a tendency to get big, especially with the vocals and the semi-anthemic choruses. Their songs are melodically strong and emotionally expressive, and arrangements sound meticulously thought through, with nicely polished presentation. The guitars have a bluesy tone and work very well with one another. There is also additional depth that comes from their use of the keyboards and vocal harmonies.
