Moritz Fasbender is the moniker that composer, concert pianist, and electronic artist Friederike Bernhardt uses specifically for her solo piano work. She generally stays close to idioms of classical music, with melody as the main driving force, though she also places plenty of emphasis on rhythm. Her music is fairly well-structured rather than being ethereal or free floating. There is often some narrative arc to her pieces that p;lay off of dramatic tension. She incorporates some light electronics in her work as well, primarily as a means to add texture and accent to her pieces without taking over the whole sound. Outside of her life as Fasbender, Bernhardt creates music for theatrical stage productions, film, radio plays, and art installations.
