Metric

Metric is a four-piece band that plays high octane, head-bobbing indie rock with a slightly '90s alt-rock tinge. They produce a lot of strong melodies and the type of big sound that would be a natural fit for stadium size shows or mega festivals, which is a fairly good fit for them, given how good they are at turning out well constructed rock songs with built-in pop appeal and the necessary oomph. They are a highly entertaining band with a clean and straightforward presentation which in turn enhances the accessibility of their songs. Their roots are in the synth pop/new wave world, going back to their start in 2003, and the dominance of synth in their music continued as they turned up their pop ratio around 2009's Fantasies. They took a step back only recently in their 2022 album where their focus began to shift to introspection and a more atmospheric approach.
