Meg Myers is a singer songwriter whose work tends to be equal parts indie rock and indie pop. Her music has the chops, the hooks, and overall rock dynamics, but also comes with a dark melodic layer of pop sheen on top. Her uptempo songs are somewhat non-committal stylistically, with an anchor planted firmly in pop. Her quieter songs are usually lovely solo acoustic pieces on guitar or piano, sometimes accompanied by strings, where her emotional material has honest resonance. Her vocal mannerisms occasionally tip her hand on the musical influences ranging from Alanis Morissette to Kate Bush to PJ Harvey, and a touch of Florence + the Machine. Her cover of "Running Up That Hill" is a good example of the kind of restlessness she brings to the table. She turned to a grander, more operatic sound on her 2023 album TZIA.
