Mama's Broke

Mama's Broke is the duo Amy Lou Keeler and Lisa Maria, who keep to the traditional folk sound, often with some combination of a guitar, a fiddle, and a banjo, and soaring vocal harmonies that showcase their earthy voice and expressive delivery.  Sometimes they go in an a cappella mode, other times the go in an instrumental direction, where the back and forth gives their music a nice stylistic tension. The duo sound combines Appalachian and Celtic folk that ties back to Nova Scotia's history and traditions. Their sound is warm and organic, with catchy melodies and a melancholic undercurrent that has always been a powerful stream in folk music.
