Los Palms
Outline
Los Palms is a band that has a direct line to the desert noir esthetics, armed with a good deal of twangy guitar tremolo and a cavernous reverb on the vocals that evokes the sense of outlaw life on the run, or hunkered down in some hideout. And that is a part of their appeal: their music tends to be broad and cinematic at its core with dark western overtones. The rhythm section maintains a fat groove that lays down the tracks for the guitars to roll along, never too far from surf and garage rock elements that add more oomph to their songs. They are not particularly psychedelic, but there is a slinky quality to their sound that brings them close.
