Liz Cooper is a singer-songwriter and a guitar player who led Liz Cooper & The Stampede, a band known for playing Americana from a skewed, trippy angle. She retained the band but dropped the name in 2021, practically emerging as a solo act, having also changed the texture of her music significantly as she moved into indie rock territory. She also kept the psychedelic tinge of her music and her lyrical ballads, but began to explore an edgier and harsher sound that comes with a lot of fuzz. She now feels free to hit high levels of noise, reach a manic pace, and then turn around and engage in a mid tempo hypnotic groove. It is a credit to her songwriting chops that she is able to produce compelling music in this new format the same way she did in her previous folk rock days.
