Liz Cooper

Liz Cooper is a singer-songwriter and a guitar player who led Liz Cooper & The Stampede, a band known for playing Americana from a skewed, trippy angle. She retained the band but dropped the name in 2021, practically emerging as a solo act, having also changed the texture of her music significantly as she moved into indie rock territory. Her music also kept its psychedelic tinge and her lyrical ballads, but began to explore an edgier and harsher sound that brought in a lot of fuzz. She now feels free to hit high levels of noise, reach a manic pace, and then turn around and engage in a mid-tempo hypnotic groove. It is a credit to her songwriting chops that she is able to produce compelling music in this new format the same way she did in her previous folk rock days.
