Lettuce is a long time funk band that has been active since the early '90s. It was started when the original members were high schoolers, which then led to a long career with a relatively stable line up. They have been incorporating elements of blues, rock, and New Orleans jazz into their music pretty much right from the start. The core of their style seems firmly grounded in the '70s sound and has not changed significantly over the years. They are as tight a combo one would expect from a band that's been playing together for so long. Most of their music is instrumental. One of the rare instances when the band deviated from their funk orientation was when they took on the work of Miles Davis and delivered in a straight jazz format, approximating his original work on their remarkable 2017 live album Witches Stew.
